Hints of Cracks in the DAP Leadership?

Perak’s Mentri Besar-in-waiting Nizar (right) talking with Perak DAP chief Ngeh after their audience with the Raja Muda of Perak. However, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang is against Nizar’s appointment and has ordered his assemblymen to stay away from the swearing-in. The assemblyman are set to defy him.Over the past few days since the election, I’ve been telling some friends that there’ll bound to be a power trip for the BA in Perak. As citizens of Perak (technically, my parents are ….), we’d want to have a chinese MB. After all, DAP won the most seats right? Even if DAP are told they can’t take the MB seat due to some technicality, it should go to a partial candidate from PKR.

Knowing the history of PAS, would we, the non muslims leave the state to PAS to run? Yes, now they say that even though it’s lead by PAS, it would not instill the PAS idealogy into the whole state. But how true is that? Time and time again, PAS had tried to instill it’s idealogy everywhere they go. Right?

So now, I wouldn’t agree to PAS’ rep being the MB and I believe Kit Siang through his statements in the newspapers also expressed the same thing. But Lo and behold… those candidates in Perak had actually made a deal even before the Election? Had they asked the citizens who would they rather have a the MB of the state?

DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, in a statement yesterday, said the party did not agree to Nizar’s appointment and had decided on Sunday night that the post should either be held by its state chief Ngeh Koo Ham or state PKR treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi.  BUT the palace also issued a statement last night stating that the DAP had signed a document agreeing to accept any one of the three names proposed. The DAP Headquarters have directed that 18 of their state assemblymen not to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the PAS representative, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, as the new Menteri Besar of Perak scheduled at Istana Iskandariah on Thursday.

Asked about the statement from the headquarters, Nga, who is also the national DAP Socialist Youth chief, said: “I don’t know. You go and ask Kit Siang.”

Kit Siang, in his statement, said the decision to appoint Nizar had “caused shock and consternation” to DAP leaders, members and supporters. Lim, who is Ipoh Timur MP, said the party’s central executive committee (CEC) had only given the approval for the formation of a Perak coalition government comprising the 18 DAP assemblymen, seven PKR assemblymen and six PAS assemblymen.

Lim said PAS was the third and the smallest political party in the proposed coalition and, as such, the CEC had not given its mandate for the appointment of Nizar as Mentri Besar.

On Saturday, the Opposition won 31 state seats in Perak, wresting control of the state from Barisan Nasional which won 28 seats. But the loose Opposition coalition is held together by only a three-seat majority, and two of the Opposition coalition partners – DAP and PAS – do not see eye-to-eye on a number of issues, especially in relation to forming an Islamic state. Lim did not make it clear whether DAP was leaving the coalition.

PKR information chief Tian Chua said they were also shocked that Nizar had been selected as Mentri Besar. “We were caught by surprise. We expected either PKR or DAP,” he said. He added that the coalition would hold an emergency meeting today to decide its next course of action.
Will the DAP and PKR get any post in the state after the PAS rep take over? Like creating a non-existing post of Deputy MB post for the DAP and PKR candidate? It’s all to be seen. Impending post election drama? Will this effect the life of a Perak Citizen?

Now, if I’m not wrong, if DAP were to say … F. U. PAS for taking the MB post….. then BN would be eligible to step up and regain the Perak state. Alot of people had agreed to DAP’s objection for a PAS MB… I’m one of them. I still want pork to be freely available 24hours a day in Perak! But alot of people also ask DAP’s leadership to just stick to this coalition so that BN won’t regain the seat. Well, it’s all to be seen now ain’t it? Barely a week since the Election. Such drama! Better than watching the local Soap Opera on TV.
